The Grand Junction River Hawks opened Round 2 of the Mountain Division Championship in commanding fashion, defending home ice at River City Sportplex with back-to-back wins over the Utah Outliers.

Game 1 set the tone with a strong 5–3 victory. The River Hawks controlled play with 39 shots on goal and built momentum early, earning the first series win. Game 2 turned into a playoff classic. Utah pushed hard, outshooting the Hawks 41–25, but goaltender #1 Simon Zille delivered a stellar performance with 40 saves and a 97.56% save percentage to keep the game within reach. The River Hawks battled through and sealed a thrilling 2–1 overtime win to take a 2–0 series lead.

Now the Hawks travel to Heber City, Utah to continue the series at Black Rock Event Center.
