Dustin Timm
Head Coach
Dustin Timm brings over a decade of coaching and leadership experience to the Grand Junction River Hawks, with a proven track record of developing players at multiple levels of the game. He spent four seasons coaching in the Western States Hockey League and three seasons on staff in the United States Hockey League with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, one of the top junior hockey programs in the country. In addition to his junior hockey background, Dustin has served the past seven years as both a Coach and the Executive Director of the RoughRiders Hockey Club, where he has played a key role in building a development-driven culture, rooted in character, skill, and hockey IQ.
Dustin is an alumnus of Nichols College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management and competed in NCAA Division III hockey. He later completed his Master of Science in Recreation and Sports Science from Ohio University, specializing in Player Development and Teaching the Game for Understanding, an approach that emphasizes decision-making, creativity, and tactical awareness on the ice.
Off the ice, Dustin is supported by his loving wife, Martina Kleinova, and their energetic twin son and daughter, and two puppies Winston and Roan. His passion for teaching, leadership, and long-term player development, combined with the support of his family, make him an asset to the River Hawks organization.
Kirk Golden
assistant coach
A Vail, Colorado native, Kirk Golden joins the RiverHawks as Associate Coach for the 2026-27 NAHL season.
Golden most recently served as an assistant coach at Vermont State University Castleton (NCAA Division III), joining the Spartans staff in 2024. Before moving to the college ranks, he spent four seasons coaching in the NA3HL and three seasons scouting in the NAHL.
His junior coaching stops include associate coach with the Great Falls Americans, who reached the 2021 Frontier Division playoff final, and head coach/GM roles with the Butte Cobras and Austin Ice Bats. In his first season in Butte, the Cobras reached the playoffs and posted what was then the second-highest regular-season win total in franchise history. He also scouted for the Maine Nordiques and Corpus Christi IceRays.
In Colorado, Golden coached Aspen High School, served as Head of Player Development for Aspen Junior Hockey, and led Aspen Leafs 19U to consecutive state championships with a combined 51-0-1 record.
As a player, he attended Shattuck-St. Mary’s, skated in the NAHL, played four seasons at Hobart College, helping the Statesmen reach the NCAA Division III National Tournament three times and played professionally in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and China.
Parker Severson
Assistant Coach & Equipment Manager
Hailing from Saginaw, Michigan, Parker brings over 20 years of hockey experience to the team, including two years of junior hockey, where he captained the Oregon Tradesmen in his second season, and two years at the NCAA Division III level playing in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. After transferring to Grand Valley State University to pursue a degree in Sport Management, Parker stayed close to the game as an assistant coach for GVSU’s club hockey team and interned as an equipment manager with the USHL’s Muskegon Lumberjacks.
A proud Type 1 diabetic, Parker embraces every challenge with resilience, positivity, and a team-first mindset, values that make him a perfect fit for our growing organization. Off the ice, he enjoys time with his fiancée Grace, their two cats, and getting outdoors to golf, fish, and hunt.
Justin Biehl
Goaltending Coach
Justin Biehl has been a dedicated hockey coach since 2002, amassing over two decades of experience across various levels of the sport, including youth, AAA, and Junior A. His extensive coaching career has seen him nurture and develop talent, particularly in goaltending, leading many of his protégés to excel in junior hockey leagues such as the USHL, NAHL, USPHL, and EHL, as well as NCAA Division I and Division III hockey.
Before joining the River Hawks, Biehl served as the Director of Hockey Operations for the West Elk Hockey Association, as well as holding the roles of Assistant Coach, Goaltending Coach, and Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Idaho Falls Spud Kings. Prior to the Spud Kings, his coaching journey includes significant contributions to the Arvada Hockey Association, the Boulder Hockey Club, the Boulder Bison Junior A Team, the Superior RoughRiders AAA Program, and Aspen Junior Hockey.
Outside the ice rink, Biehl enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, Ashley, their daughter, Addilyn, and their two dogs. His commitment to both his family and his profession exemplifies his dedication and balanced approach to life.
Jacob Babin
Assistant Equipment manager & assistant goalie coach
A native of Woodland Park, Colorado, Jacob brings 20 years of hockey experience to the organization. He went on to play ACHA Division III hockey as a goaltender at Colorado Mesa University, where he is completing his degree in Business Administration alongside an associate degree in aviation. Entering his second year as a goalie coach for our youth program, Jacob is deeply committed to developing the next generation of River Hawks goaltenders. He also played an important role helping with the River Hawks team last year, contributing directly to the historic success and deep playoff run the program experienced. Embracing the mindset that when someone asks you to walk a mile, you walk two. He brings a dedicated, team-first mentality to the staff as he continues his transition into full-time equipment management. He is thrilled to step into his role as assistant equipment manager, combining his hockey knowledge and hands-on handiwork to support the team’s daily operations. Off the ice, Jacob loves spending time at the farm with his family, hitting the links for a round of golf with Parker, exploring new places outdoors, or taking to the skies to fly planes.

Strength and Conditioning Coach
Off-ice work for the RiverHawks is led by YAP Training, a Grand Junction performance group focused on building stronger, faster, more resilient athletes. Their coaching staff programs strength, speed, and power work around the demands of junior hockey, with an emphasis on quality movement and staying available to play.
